What is Plasma Skin Tightening?
Skin tightening is a non-surgical treatment to improve your skin laxity. By employing the advanced Alma Opus Plasma® system, this non-surgical skin tightening procedure helps stimulate the natural generation of collagen to help your skin appear smoother and tighter.
Opus Plasma is actually the first of its kind fractional plasma technology to enter the skin resurfacing space. It addresses superficial to complex textural and skin-quality concerns.

How does Opus Plasma work?
Opus Plasma works by delivering controlled microplasma energy to the skin’s surface while RF energy penetrates deeper into the dermis. Here’s how the process unfolds:
Step 1: Plasma Generation The Opus device features tiny metal pins that emit high-frequency radiofrequency energy. When this energy reacts with atmospheric pressure, it generates plasma—a superheated, ionized gas.
Step 2: Micro-Injuries & Collagen Stimulation The plasma creates thousands of microscopic channels, or “micro-injuries,” in the top layers of the skin. This triggers your body’s natural wound-healing response, stimulating the production of new collagen, elastin, and hyaluronic acid.
Step 3: Deep Dermal Heating While the plasma treats the superficial layers, the RF energy penetrates deeper into the skin, heating the underlying tissue to further boost collagen production and tighten the skin from within.
Step 4: Regeneration & Renewal As your skin heals, old, damaged cells are replaced with fresh, healthy tissue. The result is smoother, firmer, more youthful-looking skin that continues to improve over the following weeks and months.
Because Opus Plasma is fractional—treating only a fraction of the skin while leaving surrounding tissue intact—healing is faster and downtime is dramatically reduced compared to traditional ablative lasers.

What to Expect
Before Your Session
A topical numbing cream is applied to the treatment area for 30–45 minutes to ensure your comfort during the procedure.
During Your Session
Your provider will glide the Opus Plasma handpiece across your skin, delivering controlled plasma and RF energy. Most patients feel little to no discomfort—often described as a mild warming sensation. A full-face treatment typically takes just 15–20 minutes.
After your Session
You may experience some redness and mild swelling, similar to a sunburn, which usually subsides within 24–48 hours. Minor peeling or flaking may occur over the following days as your skin regenerates. Most patients can return to normal activities within a day or two.

Plasma Skin Tightening FAQ
How many treatments will I need to achieve the look I want?

Can I have plasma skin tightening with other treatments?
Yes, absolutely. Plasma skin tightening can be done on its own or to complement other procedures. Many patients commonly choose to have plasma skin tightening along with other noninvasive treatments we offer in Idaho Falls, ID.
