Urinary Incontinence Idaho Falls

Effective Solutions for Bladder Health

Stop the Leaks & Reclaim Your Confidence

Laughing with friends shouldn’t make you nervous. Sneezing shouldn’t send you running to the bathroom. And exercise shouldn’t require backup protection “just in case.”

If you’re one of the millions of women dealing with bladder leaks, you know how much stress urinary incontinence (SUI) can affect your daily life. The constant worry, the extra planning, the activities you’ve started avoiding – it takes a toll.

At Ridgeline Longevity & Aesthetics in Idaho Falls, we offer a non-surgical solution that’s helping women regain bladder control without downtime, discomfort, or lengthy recovery. Our FemiLift laser treatment strengthens the tissues that support your bladder, reducing or eliminating leaks in just a few sessions.

What is Urinary Incontinence Treatment

Stress urinary incontinence occurs when physical movement or activity puts pressure on your bladder, causing urine to leak involuntarily. Unlike urge incontinence (the sudden, intense need to urinate), stress incontinence happens during moments of physical “stress” on the body.

The amount of leakage varies; some women experience just a few drops, while others have more significant leaks that require pads or protective underwear throughout the day.

Why Does Stress Incontinence Happen?

Your bladder is supported by a network of muscles, ligaments, and connective tissue called the pelvic floor. When these structures weaken or become damaged, they can no longer provide adequate support to the urethra (the tube that carries urine out of your body). When pressure is applied to the bladder, the weakened support allows urine to escape.

Common causes of pelvic floor weakening:

Pregnancy and Childbirth – Vaginal delivery stretches and can damage pelvic floor muscles and nerves. Multiple pregnancies increase the risk. Even pregnancy itself puts pressure on the pelvic floor.
Menopause – Declining estrogen levels cause vaginal and urethral tissues to thin and lose elasticity. The supportive collagen network weakens, reducing bladder support.
Aging – Natural aging leads to loss of muscle tone and collagen throughout the body, including the pelvic region.
Hysterectomy – Surgical removal of the uterus can affect the supporting structures of the bladder.
Chronic Coughing – Conditions like chronic bronchitis or smoking-related cough put repeated stress on pelvic floor muscles.
Obesity – Excess weight increases pressure on the bladder and pelvic floor.
High-Impact Activities – Years of running, jumping, or heavy lifting can contribute to pelvic floor strain.

Types of Urinary Incontinence

While stress incontinence is the most common type we treat, understanding the different forms helps ensure you receive the right treatment:

  • Stress Urinary Incontinence (SUI): Leaks triggered by physical activity, coughing, sneezing, or laughing. This is what FemiLift treats most effectively.
  • Urge Incontinence: Sudden, intense urge to urinate followed by involuntary leakage. Often called “overactive bladder.”
  • Mixed Incontinence: Combination of stress and urge incontinence. Many women experience both types.
  • Overflow Incontinence: Bladder doesn’t empty completely, leading to frequent or constant dribbling.
  • Functional Incontinence: Physical or mental limitations prevent reaching the bathroom in time.

During your consultation at our Idaho Falls clinic, we’ll discuss your specific symptoms to determine if FemiLift is the right solution for you.

Urinary Incontinence Treatment FAQs

How many treatments will I need?

The exact number of urinary incontinence treatments will depend on the specific issue you are dealing with. Typically, patients can expect about 2 – 3 treatments over the course of a few weeks. During your initial consultation at Ridgeline Aesthetics, we will find out about your symptoms and provide more details about your personalized treatment plan.

What are the different types and causes of urinary incontinence?

Everyone has specific nerves and muscles that help work to strengthen the bladder. If these nerves and muscles become damaged, you may not be able to hold in urine like you once did, especially when you sneeze or laugh. Urinary incontinence tends to affect women in particular since pregnancy, childbirth, and menopause are common causes of the condition. There are several different kinds of urinary incontinence, including:

  • Functional
  • Overflow
  • Urge
  • Stress
  • Overactive
  • Transient

Is urinary incontinence a permanent condition?

In general, urinary incontinence is not permanent, although it won’t necessarily just go away on its own. There are many different methods that can address this condition. Our team in Idaho Falls, ID is extremely knowledgeable in the ways to address urinary incontinence. In addition to laser treatments, we may provide instructions for pelvic floor exercises or lifestyle changes you could make.
